               Modify GP.EXE for Grand Prix/World Circuit
               ==========================================

This tool applies or removes various patches to or from a GP.EXE. You can
check the status of a game executable by doing just "gppatch" in your F1GP
directory; you can also add a path to some other GP.EXE. For example,
    gppatch wc105u.exe

might produce something like:
    Identification: Italian (unpacked)
    Current status:
      Fast fades: unpatched
      German spelling: not applicable
      Manual protection crack: unpatched
      Q tyres: unpatched

(This also reveals which patches the program knows about.) You can apply all
the patches by doing "gppatch -patch", or restore the original code with
"gppatch -default". If GPPatch doesn't recognize some part of the code it is
trying to patch, it will normally output some debugging information (which
you can send to me, if you like) and will refuse to apply any patches.
If you really, really want to go ahead (I don't advise it, but it's
your GP.EXE you're about to destroy), you can add the "-force" option.

The patches GPPatch currently knows about are as follows.

* Fast fades
Speeds up the screen fade routine. Running under Windows 95 or
3.1/3.11/WfWG speeds it up even more, it seems.

* German spelling
Corrects "Siete" to read "Seite".

* Manual protection crack
Alters the manual protection screen so that it always asks for the same
word. No, I'm not going to tell you which word for which version.

* Q tyres
Allows virtually unlimited use of Q tyres in practice and qualifying.
This code is based largely on information supplied by Craig Heath.

GPPatch works with any 1.05 executable (European, Italian, Spanish, World
Circuit), standard or unpacked. (The manual crack does not work with
unpacked Spanish executables.)

IMPORTANT!

Please DO NOT use the password crack to play the game if you do not legally
own the game.
