This text file describes a new feature of F1Ed that is not yet
properly tested or documented.

F1Ed will now modify the 16 circuit data files that should be
found in the same directory as "GP.EXE". As far as I know,
all "flavours" of F1GP and WC 1.04 and 1.05 use the same track
file format. However, there is no error checking code at the
moment, so my best advice is to ****BACKUP YOUR GP DIRECTORY****

What can be modified then?

Well, you've probably already seen GPCSETUP that allows you to
modify the computer car's brake balance, gear ratios and wing
settings. If you've tried it, you'll also have seen that changes
to these settings have very little affect.

F1Ed will also let you set an "agressiveness" factor for each
circuit (separate settings for qualifying and race). What does
this mean? Well, it means that the computer cars will brake later
than usual for the corners, and try harder to pass each other
(and you of course!). At least, that's what my testing so far
has shown. If you set the factor for each circuit to +20 more
than it is already, the computer cars will get very out of shape,
and actually slow down (sliding around too much, and having
accidents). My advice is to take it up by around +10 at each
circuit for best results. You'll find the computer cars are
harder to out brake, and maybe 2 or more seconds a lap quicker.

How do I use it then?

When you start the editor, choose "Computer Car Performance" on
the "View" menu (there's no tool bar yet).

You'll see a list box on the left hand side with a list of circuits.
To the right, you can modify the characteristics for each circuit.
The important areas (as described above) are in the "Driver Performance
Level" sub-window.

When you've made the necessary changes, go through the menus
as follows ...

File -> Export Data -> F1GP Circuit Files

This will cause the Circuit data files to be updated (there's no
file requested, F1Ed will use the same directory as your GP.EXE
file ... make sure this is set-up correctly first).

Please let me know what you think of the difference in the ability
of the competition.

Finally, thanks to Rob Buis for supplying this information.
